A Big Thank You to our Volunteers

As it is currently Volunteers Week 2012 (June 1st-7th), we would like to take this opportunity to highlight and celebrate the fantastic work that our volunteer team carry out at Edinburgh Zoo.
At the moment we have around 80 active volunteers, based mainly within our Education Department. These volunteers do a brilliant job – they provide additional activities for our visitors, including our Brass Rubbings table in the Rhino House and various “Touch Tables” throughout the park – where you can learn, hands on, about different animal features and characteristics. They are also on hand to be a friendly face for visitors and to try and answer any queries.
Look out for them when you visit some of our more popular attractions, such as the Budongo Trail – where they can fill you in on the latest gossip from our chimpanzee troop – and Brilliant Birds – where you can be updated on how many chicks have recently fledged their nests.
You may well have encountered one of our volunteers whilst visiting Edinburgh Zoo in the past, and hopefully they have made your visit a bit more interactive, interesting and enjoyable! Alternatively, if you are planning on visiting us soon, then please don’t hesitate to ask any of our volunteers on duty any questions you might have – they are always willing to help and also impart interesting zoo facts as well!
For anybody out there who would like to become a volunteer at Edinburgh Zoo then please keep an eye on our website for the latest updates on volunteer recruitment – although not recruiting at the moment we hopefully will be in the near future. Any other queries can be emailed to Eduvolunteers@rzss.org.uk.
